The President on Thursday told supporters in New Hampshire that he will "always uphold the Second Amendment." Further, the President also suggested that building new mental health facilities would help curb gun violence.

President Trump expressed concern over the lack of mental health facilities as he was giving a speech in New Hampshire. The President said that guns need to be kept out of the hands of people with mental illnesses.

"It’s not the gun that pulls the trigger. It’s the person that pulls the trigger," Trump said, earning a roar of approval from the crowd in Manchester.

Trump suggested that the closure of many mental health institutions has led to an influx of mentally ill persons on the streets. The President proposed building newer facilities to get those in need the help required.

The President also added; "We can’t make it harder for good, solid, law-abiding citizens to protect themselves," he said. "We will always uphold the right to self-defense, and we will always uphold the Second Amendment."
